Q1. Define conflict management. What
are the causes of workplace conflicts? What are the various strategies to be
adopted for resolving conflicts?
Answer. Conflict management is the process of
limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects
of conflict. The aim of conflict management is to enhance learning and group
outcomes, including effectiveness or performance in organizational setting (Ra
him, 2002, p. 208). Conflict management minimizes the negative outcomes of
conflict and promotes the positive outcomes of conflict with the goal of
improving learning in an organization.
Q2.What is meant by organizational
culture? What are the elements and dimensions of organizational culture?
Answer. Organizational
culture is the behavior of humans who are part of an organization and the
meanings that the people attach to their actions. Culture includes the
organization values, visions, norms, working language, systems, symbols,
beliefs and habits. It is also the pattern of such collective behaviors and
assumptions that are taught to new organizational members as a way of

Q3. Explain the importance and
features of Human Resource Information systems (HRIS).
Answer. A Human Resources Management System (HRMS) or Human Resources Information
System (HRIS) refers to the systems and processes at the intersection
between human resource management (HRM) and information technology. It merges
HRM as a discipline and in particular its basic HR activities and processes
with the information technology field, whereas the programming of data
processing systems evolved into standardized routines and packages of
enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Q4.What is meant by grievance
redressal? Explain the three stages of Grievance redressal. What precautions
are to be taken while handling grievances?
Answer. Grievance Redressal Mechanism for its employees, advising the
officers from time to time to put in their best efforts, to examine the
grievances submitted by the workmen in a better manner at different stages and
redresses the grievances expeditiously.
The genuine grievances of the workmen are attended to by the managerial
personnel in a well established manner and this procedure i.e. Grievance Redresseal
Procedure is followed at 3 levels for prompt action.
Q5. What are trade unions? What are
the objectives and activities of trade unions?
Answer. A trade union may be: (a) Accompany union that represents interests
of only one company and may not have any connection with other unions. Also called
house union, a company union is often a bogus one and generally illegal. (b) A
general union that represents workers from several companies in the same
industry. Also called industrial union.
(c) A craft union that represents skilled workers in a particular field such as
carpentry or welding.

employee wellness in organizations.
Answer. Stress
is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or
upset your balance in some way. When you sense danger – whether it’s real or
imagined – the body's defenses kick into high gear in a rapid, automatic
process known as the “fight-or-flight” reaction, or the stress response.
The stress
response is the body’s way of protecting you. When working properly, it helps
you stay focused, energetic, and alert. In emergency situations, stress can
save your life – giving you extra strength to defend yourself, for example, or
spurring you to slam on the brakes to avoid
