Q1. Define Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Briefly explain the major benefits of an ERP system.
Answer. ERP
is an integrated information system that controls and integrates all the
business functions of an enterprise. According to Nah and Lau (2001), “ERP is a
packaged business software system that enables a company to manage the
efficient and effective use of resources (materials, human resources, finance,
etc.) by providing a total, integrated solution for the organisation’s
information-processing needs.”
Q2. Explain ERP selection process.

The ERP selection process is an important step for the future growth of any
manufacturing or distribution organisation. ERP selection process has helped
numerous manufacturers and distributors to find the software provider and
solution that best meets their organisation’s unique business software
requirements. The actual process of evaluating and selecting an ERP System is
never the same for any two companies. However some common steps and exercises
that a company and its evaluation team should take to evaluate the company’s
requirements are:

1. Deal with business complexities:
The business environment is changing constantly with continuous advancement in
technology. These changes have increased the complexity of different business
