different strategy levels in an organization.
Answer. Definition of Strategy
Johnson and Scholes define strategy as “The direction and scope of an organisation over the
long-term; which achieves advantages for the organisation through its
configuration of resources within a changing environment, to meet the needs of
markets and to fulfill stakeholders’ expectations.”
The main levels of strategy of an
organisation are:
• Corporate level strategy: It frames the overall business
direction and goals.
• Business-unit level strategy: It specifies the methods the
organization uses to compete in particular markets.
• Functional level strategy: It outlines the strategy of
individual departments and divisions like finance, marketing, etc.

dimensions of Organizational Culture?

Organizations
(e.g., project/programme purpose organizations) develop their own culture. The culture of a organization consists of
elements that are valued and practiced. The emerging challenges for
communicating and organizing in a global/local operational environment (think
globally, act locally) are based on understanding the interrelationships among
cultural differences, communication behaviors, and organizational relationships
both within and outside of the organization. The challenge for a manager is to
examine the current culture and style of communication operating within an
organization and to develop communication skills that will allow for the
insight, sensitivity, vision, versatility, focus, patience, and global-localism
called for in today’s complex work environment.

Q1. Discuss the Collective Bargaining
Process and its issues.
Answer. The collective bargaining
process comprises of five core steps:
1. Prepare: This phase involves composition of a
negotiation team. The negotiation team should consist of representatives of
both the parties with adequate knowledge and skills for negotiation. In this
phase both the employer’s representatives and the union examine their own
situation in order to develop the issues that they believe will be most
important. The first thing to be done is to determine whether there is actually
any reason to negotiate at all. A correct understanding of the main issues to
be covered and intimate knowledge of operations, working conditions, production
norms and other relevant conditions is required.
Q2. What is a Trade Union and what
are its activities? Explain the functions of Trade Unions.
Answer. A trade union is an organisation made up of members
(a membership-based organisation) and its membership must be made up mainly of
workers. One of a trade union's main aims is to protect and advance the
interests of its members in the workplace.
Most trade
unions are independent of any employer. However, trade unions try to develop
close working relationships with employers. This can sometimes take the form of
a partnership agreement between the employer and the trade union which
identifies their common interests and objectives.

Answer. a. Decision Making is the process of choosing the best
alternative for reaching objectives.
Managers
make decisions affecting the organization daily and communicate those decisions
to other organizational members.
Some
decisions affect a large number of organization members, cost a great deal
of money to Carry out, or have a long
term effect on the organization. Such significant decisions can have a major
impact, not only on the management systems itself, but on the career of the
manager who makes them.
