Q1. Explain the concept of maintenance objectives and describe the primary maintenance objectives.
Answer. Maintenance is an important factor in quality assurance, which is another basis for the successful competitive edge. Inconsistencies in equipments lead to variability in product characteristics and result in defective parts that fail to meet the established specifications. Beyond just preventing break downs, it is necessary to keep equipments operating within specifications (i.e. process capability) that will produce high level of quality.

Q2. Suppose you are appointed as a maintenance manager in a manufacturing organization. What functions you need to perform for organizing maintenance activities?
Answer. Maintenance managers control the installation, repair and upkeep of employers' property, including machines and mechanical systems. They may also take on more administrative tasks, depending on the specifics of their job. Maintenance manager job duties fluctuate depending on the size and function of the facility for which they work. Typically they oversee the installation, repair and upkeep of an employer's property, including machines, mechanical systems, buildings and other structures. Maintenance managers delegate tasks to subordinates, from painting and drywall repair to more complex activities like electrical, heating and air-conditioning work. They may also be required to perform those tasks themselves.
